Favorites from New England
Regions of the United States
Southeast | Appalachian Highlands | Mid-Atlantic | New England | Great Lakes | Great Plains | Southwest | Mountain West | Pacific Northwest | California | Non-Contiguous
New England covers the northeastern corner of the United States and is known for it's colonial history, delicious seafood, and fall colors. The states in this region are Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. While there are a number of great places to visit, I narrowed my favorites down to four which are listed below. I've also included links to my photo albums for each New England state.
Acadia National Park, Maine
Acadia National Park is located on Mount Desert Island off of the Maine Coast. It is the oldest and one of the few National Parks located east of the Mississippi River. Highlights of the park include Cadillac Mountain, multiple lakes and a beautiful shoreline.

Boston, Massachusetts
The scene of many important events of the Revolutionary War, Boston has a rich history which has been well preserved. The Freedom Trail which connects a number of prominent sights, such as the Old State House (pictured above), is a must see. Boston is also home to a diversity of neighborhoods which make it a fun city to explore.

Hartford is the Capital of Connecticut and home to possibly my favorite State Capitol Building (pictured above). Other worthwhile attractions include historic buildings, museums, parks, and public spaces.

Portland, Maine
Portland is a vibrant waterfront city in Southern Maine. The city center is filled with many restaurants, bars, and points of interest. Portland Head Light, in neighboring Cape Elizabeth, is the oldest lighthouse in Maine and one of the most famous in the country.
